Ruby Tuesday @ the Moriones Festival

(initially uploaded from my FS Lerma)

MORIONES FESTIVAL at Marinduque Island

Holy Week - Boac,Magpoc, Marinduque

One of the most famous of Philippine festivals. Colorfully garbed and masked as Roman soldiers and centurions, locals reenact the life of Longinus culminating in his beheading. The entire towns of Boac, Morpog and Gasan are virtually converted into huge stages as the story as Longinus unfolds.

Do you re-enact the last days of Jesus? I heard you have people carrying the cross.

Oh boy... here I go gettin' educated again! I don't even know who Longinus IS... but I'm heading to Google NOW to find out! That is one FABULOUS costume though! I DO know that! Sounds like the Moriones Festival is a lot of fun!

Wow! I'm back! I had NO idea! I never knew that the soldier who speared Christ HAD a name! I mean I knew he HAD one - obviously - we ALL do -- but I never knew that his was revealed. OR that he had been cured by Christ's blood. THANK YOU for sharing this!!!

That is so interesting. And a very fearsome costume - and ending to the story.

Unusual costume. I couldn't imagine Maximus Decimus Meridius going into battle though!
